Environment: Freshwater pond fish. An aquarium doesn't provide adequate space for a koi since some can weigh as much as 40 lbs and grow to several feet in length.


Korumo koi has patches of black or blue edged scales. This koi variety was developed around the 1950 by crossbreeding the Asagi koi with the Kohaku koi. A different version of this koi variety is the Ai Goromo, which has a color very similar to Kohaku koi except for the scales that have red patches with blue or black edge to it.
